The written pattern follows, but if you prefer to work from a chart, scroll to the end to find an extract that represents 1 side of your square. Or if you prefer to work from a PDF format, there is a free downloadable pattern which you can find here.
You will need:
Yarn
2 colours, a main colour, and a contrast colour. I used:
Hook
3.5mm (US E/4) standard crochet hook.
Other
Stitch markers for placing. (optional)
Tension
Gauge is not critical, but tension should be kept tight for clean stitches.
Terminology
US
Final Measurement
16cm x 16cm (6” x 6”)
Pattern Notes
Starting chain does not count as a stitch.
Each round is worked from the right side; do not turn at the end of each round.
All blsc and scs are worked into the top of the stitch from the previous round as normal.
All fldcs are worked into the front loop of the stitch immediately below it, 2 rows down, ie where a fldc is indicated in round 3, it is worked into the front loop of the stitch directly below it from round 1 and the same stitch of row 3 is skipped.
Unless otherwise stated above, all stitch instructions are worked into the next available stitch.
Read the chart from right to left. The first square is the second sc of “(sc 2 ch, sc)” and continues to the first sc of the next “(sc 2 ch, sc)” and represents one side of your square.
